Events coming up in and around South Hill

Caradon Hill Area Heritage Project – Volunteers needed
for Thursday 5th April, 10.00am to 4pm

The project has purchased 250 Dormouse Boxes, which need to be put up on seven sites in the project area.

The dormouse is a rare, legally protected and very secretive nocturnal species which is known to live in both woodland and hedges. There are very few records of the dormouse in the project area and the plan is to try to establish if it is present by putting up and then monitoring boxes on a variety of sites. The boxes are similar to bird boxes and we need volunteers to help carry them and fix them in positions on slopes in woodland. Any volunteers will need to be fit enough to walk up hill on un-even ground and enjoy this type of physical exercise in the open air.
